VAMPIRES A race of immortals whom have walked the earth since the beginning of written time. There is no one true story of their origin on Earth, only theories. Some say they were created from a curse in the desolate hills of Romania, while others claim they were born as manifestations from the Night herself.

TERMINOLOGY
Sire A vampire who incurs The Change on a human who becomes their fledgling. Normally quite an old, skilled vampire, but sometimes young and naïve. Whether or not the change was mutual the fledgling will look toward their sire for guidance and show them the utmost respect. If a sire abandons their fledgling or dies, the sire's coven will often take the fledgling in. It is very rare for a sire to not belong to a coven.
Fledgling A human who is changed in to a vampire. 'Fledgling' is a term of endearment usually only used by the sire. No matter the age, as long as a vampire is with their sire they will be called a fledgling.
Changeling There is a difference between a changeling and a fledgling. The term 'fledgling' may be used by a sire regardless of the vampire's age; the term 'changeling' only applies to newly changed vampires.
The Change Quite obvious. Also known as the Transformation, it's the term used to describe the change that takes place when a human transforms in to a vampire.
Blood Lust The state of mind and body a vampire reaches when on the point of starvation. See below for more information.
The Sleep The state of mind and body a vampire imposes on his or herself during times of need. It is a state where s/he will fall into a dormant sleep from which they will only be awakened by a second party or an "internal clock" of sorts. For example, during starvation, they would put themselves into the Sleep to avoid the Blood Lust. They will hide themselves in a confined space, as to not be bothered by the waking world, there they will lie for any amount of time. Some plan to awaken on their own, in a set span of time. Others, however, may plan to fall asleep and stay asleep, only awakening when another person or thing interrupts them.
